Telangana CM Calls on Employees to Contribute Extra Hour Daily for State Development

Hyderabad, June 25 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday urged state government employees to work an additional hour every day to improve administrative efficiency and help increase state revenues.

Addressing a gathering after signing MoUs with banks for providing accident insurance coverage to government employees, the Chief Minister said curbing illegal activities and plugging revenue leakages would significantly enhance the state’s income.

Stating that employees play a key role in the implementation of welfare schemes, he said the government’s strength lies in the trust and dedication of its workforce.

The Chief Minister said the additional revenue generated through improved administration would be utilised for employee welfare and overall development.

Highlighting the government’s commitment to employee welfare, Revanth Reddy said accident insurance coverage would be extended to all government employees, including outsourcing and contract workers.

He noted that after providing ₹1 crore insurance compensation each to the families of 45 Singareni workers who died in accidents, the government decided to introduce a similar insurance scheme for all employees.

The Chief Minister said the scheme would provide financial security to families of employees in the event of unforeseen tragedies and instil confidence among the workforce.

Inviting employees to bring their grievances and demands to the government’s notice, he assured them of a positive response.

Criticising the previous BRS government, Revanth Reddy alleged that Telangana had been burdened with a debt of ₹8.11 lakh crore during its ten-year rule.

He claimed that salaries of government employees were not paid on time during the previous regime, whereas the present government was ensuring prompt salary disbursal despite financial constraints and was also releasing retirement benefits in phases.

Referring to criticism from the opposition, the Chief Minister said he was proud to be associated with government employees who serve as a bridge between the administration and the people.

Revanth Reddy also accused the opposition of obstructing developmental initiatives such as the Metro Rail expansion and Musi River rejuvenation projects.

Stating that he had not taken a single day’s leave in the last 30 months, the Chief Minister said his sole focus was on resolving people’s issues and steering Telangana towards becoming a USD 3 trillion economy by 2047.

Calling upon employees to work collectively for the state’s progress, he said maintaining law and order and attracting investments remained top priorities of the government and assured employees of continued support from the administration.
