Telangana Dy CM Stresses Strengthening of Study Circles to Boost Success in UPSC, Competitive Exams
Hyderabad, June 25 (TNT): Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Thursday stressed the need to strengthen Study Circles to improve the success rate of candidates appearing for UPSC, Group Services and other competitive examinations.
Chairing a review meeting of the BC, SC and ST Welfare Departments at the Dr B.R. Ambedkar Secretariat here, Bhatti directed officials to intensify efforts to enhance coaching facilities and support systems for aspirants from disadvantaged sections.
The Deputy Chief Minister also instructed officials to prepare a monthly action plan for the construction of the Ambedkar Tower and the Babu Jagjivan Ram Student Hostel Building, setting a target to inaugurate the multi-storeyed Ambedkar Building on April 14, 2027.
Stating that the Indiramma People’s Government is committed to welfare-oriented governance, Bhatti said the government is focused on strengthening educational and welfare institutions catering to weaker sections.
He directed officials to examine the feasibility of shifting students presently accommodated in private buildings to Young India Integrated Residential Schools and asked them to complete repair works in welfare schools, hostels and residential institutions within one month.
The Deputy Chief Minister also instructed the Finance Department to accord priority to clearing around ₹7.5 crore worth of pending repair bills that have remained unsettled since 2023.
He directed departmental secretaries to regularly submit bills relating to hostel rents, residential school rents, diet charges and cosmetic charges to ensure timely payments, warning that delays in submitting student-related bills would not be tolerated.
Bhatti further directed officials to implement all self-employment programmes under the Rajiv Yuva Vikasam scheme and submit a detailed report on the proposed electric two-wheeler scheme. He also sought annual and quarterly fund requirement estimates for effective financial planning.
The Deputy Chief Minister instructed officials to prepare proposals for establishing Dr B.R. Ambedkar Knowledge Centres in all districts.
Highlighting measures taken by the government, Bhatti said diet charges had been increased by 40 per cent and cosmetic charges by 200 per cent after the present government assumed office. He added that all related bills were being cleared regularly and reiterated the government’s commitment to providing quality infrastructure and facilities in welfare educational institutions.
Officials informed the meeting that since 2014, a total of 1,810 candidates from districts outside Hyderabad had secured selections through Study Circles, of whom nearly 1,000 were selected after the present government came to power.
They also informed that around ₹29 crore per month is required to run residential schools and sought clearance of pending dues, including approximately ₹27 crore towards rent payments.
Ministers Adluri Laxman Kumar and Ponnam Prabhakar, Principal Finance Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania, Women and Child Development Secretary Anita Ramachandran, SC Development Secretary Vijayendra Boyi, Shailaja IAS and other senior officials attended the meeting.
