Telangana DGP reviews long-pending police station reorganisation in four commissionerates
Hyderabad, July 2 (TNT): Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) C.V. Anand on Thursday reviewed the long-pending reorganisation of police stations in the Hyderabad, Cyberabad, Malkajgiri and Future City Police Commissionerates, directing officials to complete the exercise in accordance with government orders while ensuring public convenience.
Chairing a review meeting, the DGP noted that although the Government Order (GO) for the reorganisation was issued in December last year, implementation of certain aspects remained incomplete, leading to jurisdictional confusion across the four commissionerates.
During the meeting, the commissioners presented proposals relating to the reorganisation of police stations, territorial jurisdictions, administrative requirements and other operational issues.
Anand directed officials to redraw police station limits in line with the notified GOs, taking into account the jurisdictions of municipal bodies, revenue divisions and courts.
Emphasising the need for future-ready planning, he said the reorganisation should factor in urban expansion, population growth and evolving administrative requirements. He also instructed officials to consider the views of all stakeholders before finalising the proposals.
The DGP issued specific directions regarding the determination of police station boundaries in certain parts of Hyderabad city and resolved pending jurisdictional disputes after discussions with the commissioners.
He directed that the revised limits should minimise inconvenience to the public, government departments and the judiciary.
Reiterating the objective of the exercise, Anand said the reorganisation should strengthen people-centric and efficient policing while improving the delivery of police services.
The meeting was attended by Hyderabad Commissioner of Police V.C. Sajjanar, Cyberabad Commissioner Ramesh Reddy, Future City Commissioner Tarun Joshi, Malkajgiri Commissioner Sumathi, along with Joint Commissioners and other senior police officers.
