8.23 lakh Union govt posts vacant, Centre neglecting youth unemployment: AIMIM Prez Owaisi
Hyderabad, Aug 27 (TNT): AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Thursday hit out at the Centre over vacancies in sanctioned Union government posts, alleging that the government was failing to address the growing problem of youth unemployment.
In a post on X, Owaisi said 8.23 lakh sanctioned Union government posts were vacant as of March 2024, while the graduate unemployment rate stood at 29.1 per cent.
He said the graduate unemployment rate was nine times higher than that among people who had never attended school and questioned the Centre’s handling of the employment situation.
“These vacancies are saying that the government does not care about youth unemployment,” Owaisi said.
The AIMIM chief alleged that the large number of vacancies was also indicative of an understaffed and dysfunctional government.
He particularly flagged 2.4 lakh vacancies in civilian defence establishments, terming the situation alarming in view of what he described as continued Chinese violations of India’s territorial integrity.
“A government that cannot even staff itself cannot govern effectively,” Owaisi said, alleging that the Centre’s failure to fill the vacancies was not only an employment issue but also had implications for governance and national security.
His remarks come as the opposition continues to raise concerns over unemployment and vacancies in government departments, making the issue a potential political flashpoint ahead of upcoming electoral battles.
