Governor greets Telangana people on Hyderabad Liberation Day
Hyderabad, Sept 16 (TNT): Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Wednesday extended greetings to the people of the state on the occasion of Hyderabad Liberation Day, observed on September 17.
In his message, the Governor said September 17, 1948, occupies an important place in the history of the erstwhile Hyderabad State and in the country’s national integration.
He recalled that the erstwhile Hyderabad State attained liberation on September 17, 1948, following India’s Independence on August 15, 1947. The state then comprised regions corresponding to present-day Telangana, Marathwada and Hyderabad-Karnataka.
Shukla recalled the sacrifices and contributions of people who participated in the Hyderabad Liberation Movement and paid homage to those who sacrificed their lives in the cause of freedom and national integration.
He stressed the need to preserve the history of the Liberation Movement and pass it on to future generations.
The younger generation should be made aware of the struggles, hardships and sacrifices endured by people during the period and the significance of the subsequent integration of Hyderabad State with the Indian Union, he said.
The Governor paid homage to the Liberation Fighters and recalled their sacrifices, saying their courage and dedication remained part of the shared history and continued to inspire values of freedom, unity, democracy and national integration.
He called upon people to observe Hyderabad Liberation Day with a sense of unity and collective remembrance and reaffirm their commitment to national unity, integrity and democratic values.
Shukla conveyed his best wishes to the people of Telangana and prayed for their continued peace, progress and prosperity.
