Telangana CM directs officials to make Hyderabad clean, traffic-free city
Hyderabad, Nov 2 (TNT) : Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday directed officials to take comprehensive measures to transform Hyderabad into a clean and traffic-free city, stressing the need for effective waste management, conservation of drinking water and improved traffic regulation.
During a review meeting with municipal officials at his Jubilee Hills residence, the Chief Minister instructed authorities to ensure that garbage was not visible anywhere in the city and called for continuous monitoring of daily waste collection. He warned officials against negligence and stressed strict enforcement of door-to-door garbage collection.
The Chief Minister also called for special arrangements to remove construction debris and directed officials to coordinate with the Industries wing to ensure regular waste collection in industrial zones.
Emphasising the need to conserve drinking water, Revanth Reddy instructed officials to stop using potable water for construction activities, park maintenance, landscaping and gardening, and instead utilise treated wastewater supplied through ‘Green Tankers’ from Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs).
The officials informed him that the Water Board had launched the supply of treated water through 28 Green Tankers sourced from 19 STPs in the first phase.
The Chief Minister directed them to expand the service across GHMC, Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) and Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC) limits, based on requirements.
Reviewing traffic management in the city, Revanth Reddy called for special attention to regulating vehicular movement and addressing congestion.
He directed officials to prepare comprehensive plans for constructing underpasses and elevated corridors to develop a signal-free traffic system.
He stressed that vehicles should be able to move smoothly without being held up at traffic signals for long periods and called for coordinated efforts to ensure uninterrupted traffic flow across the city.
MP Vem Narender Reddy, Chief Minister’s Secretary Manik Raj, HMDA Commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmed, Municipal Commissioner G Srujana and other officials attended the meeting.
