Fire breaks out at HPCL Visakhapatnam refinery; no casualties

Visakhapatnam, Nov 3 (TNT): A fire broke out at a pitch intermediate storage tank at Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) Visakh Refinery around 10 pm on November 2.

The refinery’s Fire and Safety Team promptly activated firefighting and emergency response measures and brought the fire under control within a short time, the Corporation said in a statement on Tuesday.

The fire was confined to the pitch tank area and there were no casualties, the company said, adding that all refinery units were functioning safely.

HPCL reiterated its commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and emergency preparedness.
