BRS Will Lose Opposition Status if It Continues to Stall Development: Telangana CM Revanth

Hyderabad, June 6 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday launched a sharp attack on the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), warning that the party would lose its status as the principal opposition if it continued to obstruct development projects in the state.

Addressing a public meeting after laying foundation stones for an Integrated Fruit Market and a Sub-Registrar Office Complex at Koheda in Abdullapurmet mandal of Ranga Reddy district, the Chief Minister alleged that the BRS was creating hurdles in major infrastructure and development initiatives undertaken by the Congress government.

He accused the opposition party of opposing projects such as Bharat Future City, the Regional Ring Road (RRR), proposed airports and the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme.

Revanth Reddy alleged that BRS leaders were threatening to scrap Bharat Future City and staging protests whenever new development projects were proposed.

Warning of political consequences, he said the party’s election symbol, the “Car”, would crash in the next elections if it continued to oppose the state’s development agenda.

Targeting former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), the Chief Minister alleged that KCR had promised to camp at the project site to complete the Palamuru-Rangareddy project but failed to do so during his tenure.

The Chief Minister reiterated his government’s commitment to developing Bharat Future City, stating that the project would attract 500 globally renowned companies and generate large-scale employment opportunities.

“We are committed to building Bharat Future City and transforming it into a global investment destination,” he said.

In a swipe at senior BRS leader T. Harish Rao, Revanth Reddy advised him to stop offering suggestions to the government and criticised the previous BRS administration over the execution of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project.

The Chief Minister alleged that despite huge expenditure on the project, Telangana had achieved record paddy production without receiving water from Kaleshwaram.

Claiming that the Congress government was correcting the damage caused during the previous regime, Revanth Reddy said his administration was addressing long-pending issues and steering the state towards development.

“We are standing firm and resolving problems created over the past decade,” he said.

The Chief Minister expressed confidence that people would support the Congress government’s development initiatives and reject attempts to obstruct Telangana’s progress.
