Telangana Govt sanctions Rs 2,278.14 Cr for Adilabad Joint User Airport
Hyderabad, July 26 (TNT): The Telangana Government has accorded administrative sanction of ₹2,278.14 crore for the development of a Joint User Airport at Adilabad, involving both the Indian Air Force (IAF) and civil aviation operations.
According to G.O.Ms. No. 36, issued by the Transport, Roads and Buildings (Airports) Department on Sunday, the project envisages acquisition of 2,009.23 acres, comprising 1,609.23 acres for the Indian Air Force (IAF) and 400 acres for civil aviation facilities, including an MRO, cargo complex and passenger terminal.
The order said the airport would support civil passenger services, cargo operations, IAF training activities and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facilities.
The proposal follows consultations with the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Airports Authority of India and the Indian Air Force.
The sanctioned amount includes ₹1,555.11 crore towards land acquisition, ₹310 crore for shifting 765 KVA high-tension transmission towers, ₹57.49 crore for diversion of streams, ₹35 crore for diversion of the existing R&B road, ₹18.76 crore for dismantling electrical poles, ₹3.55 crore for shifting drinking water utilities and ₹31 crore towards structure valuation.
The government directed the Adilabad District Collector to complete land acquisition and related formalities expeditiously, with the entire process, including removal of obstacles, to be completed preferably by December 31, 2026.
