Telangana CM Revanth to Visit China to Study Development Model, Best Practices
Bengaluru, June 6 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday said he would soon visit China to study its development model and learn best practices that could be adopted for accelerating Telangana’s growth.
Speaking during an interaction with N. Ram, Director of The Hindu, at The Hindu Huddle session titled “By, For, and Of the People: Good Governance for Telangana” in Bengaluru, Revanth Reddy said Telangana was competing not only with neighbouring states but also with major global economies for investments and industrial expansion.
“Why compete only with neighbouring states? We are competing with China, Japan, South Korea and Germany,” he said.
The Chief Minister said Telangana’s development strategy was guided by the “China Plus One” approach, under which the state seeks to attract global investments by positioning itself as an alternative manufacturing and investment destination.
Stating that there was no hesitation in learning from successful models, Revanth Reddy said he had visited China 15 years ago and planned to undertake another visit soon to gain firsthand knowledge of its industrial, infrastructure and governance practices.
“I will visit China soon to learn and understand their best practices,” he said.
Drawing a parallel with a short-term programme he attended at Harvard University, the Chief Minister said exposure to successful international models would help Telangana formulate effective policies and strengthen its competitiveness.
Referring to investment trends, Revanth Reddy alleged that Gujarat was not attracting investments solely on its own merits and claimed that policy interventions had played a role in diverting investments to the state.
He reiterated that Telangana’s vision was to emerge as a globally competitive hub for investment, innovation and economic growth by adopting proven international practices and creating a business-friendly ecosystem.
