YFLO launches ‘Art Beyond Walls’ initiative to bring public art to Hyderabad

Hyderabad, July 16 (TNT): Young FICCI Ladies Organisation (YFLO), Hyderabad, on Thursday launched “Art Beyond Walls”, a public art initiative aimed at bringing museum-quality Indian contemporary art to luxury hotels and other public spaces across the city.

The initiative was inaugurated by Nandini Mallu, wife of Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, in the presence of FICCI FLO National President Puja Garg, at Park Hyatt Hyderabad.

Speaking on the occasion, Nandini Mallu said the initiative would not only promote Indian artists but also make art accessible to the public while encouraging people to reconnect with nature through artistic expression.

Conceived as a long-term cultural movement, the project aims to transform Hyderabad into a city where art becomes an integral part of everyday life by displaying contemporary artworks in prominent public and hospitality spaces.

The initiative is part of the Visual Arts Initiative spearheaded by FLO National President Puja Garg, which encourages FLO chapters across the country to create platforms that support Indian visual arts and artists.

Puja Garg said Art Beyond Walls was more than an art installation programme and had the potential to evolve into a lasting cultural legacy for Hyderabad while inspiring similar initiatives in other cities.

The first installation under the project is “The Tree”, a monumental stainless-steel sculpture by noted contemporary artist and National Lalit Kala Akademi Award recipient Dhananjay Singh. The artwork has been permanently installed at Park Hyatt Hyderabad, marking the beginning of a city-wide public art trail.

According to the organisers, the sculpture explores themes of growth, resilience, transformation and interconnectedness through intricately woven stainless-steel wire, transforming industrial material into organic forms.

YFLO Hyderabad Chairperson Khushboo Daga, who conceptualised the initiative, said cities are remembered not only for their infrastructure but also for the culture they nurture, and the programme seeks to create a lasting cultural legacy for Hyderabad.

She said the initiative would be implemented in phases, with six major public art installations planned across Hyderabad’s leading luxury hotels. Two installations will be unveiled at a time, gradually creating a network of public artworks across the city.

Future phases will feature works by renowned artists, including sculptor Phaneendra Nath Chaturvedi, whose installations are planned at ITC Kohenur and ITC Kakatiya, while noted artist Thota Vaikuntam will also be associated with the project.

The organisers said the initiative would eventually be extended beyond hotels to other public spaces in Hyderabad and is expected to enhance the city’s cultural ecosystem while providing greater visibility to Indian artists.

The project is being implemented in collaboration with Sculpted India and Namtech Fine Art.
