TGSRTC Launches ‘Busulo Bharosa’ CCTV Surveillance Project for Passenger Safety
Hyderabad, May 24 ( TNT): Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) on Sunday launched a high-tech passenger safety initiative by installing advanced CCTV surveillance systems in buses under a new project titled “Busulo Bharosa.”
The initiative was launched by TGSRTC Managing Director Nagi Reddy with the objective of enhancing passenger security and preventing accidents, thefts and harassment incidents during travel.
As part of the pilot phase, the project has been introduced experimentally in the erstwhile Adilabad district in coordination with the police department.
Depending on the success of the pilot project in Adilabad district, the corporation is planning to expand the CCTV surveillance system to buses across all depots in Telangana, the Corporation said in a release here.
Speaking on the occasion, Nagi Reddy said around 175 buses operating in the Adilabad region have already been equipped with modern surveillance cameras.
The CCTV systems have been installed using specialised technology to ensure full coverage inside the buses, including the driver’s cabin, women’s reserved seating area, footboard and rear passenger sections, he said.
He said every activity inside the bus, including movement and facial visuals of passengers boarding the vehicles, will be recorded.
The footage will be accessible not only to drivers and conductors but also to RTC control rooms for continuous monitoring, he said.
The system would help authorities identify suspicious persons and theft gangs operating in buses and provide accurate evidence in case of accidents or untoward incidents, he said..
The corporation’s move to prevent harassment of women passengers, thefts and inappropriate behaviour has received positive response from commuters, especially women and elderly passengers travelling alone during night hours.
The presence of CCTV cameras would also improve driving standards and encourage staff to perform duties more responsibly, he added.
