Hyderabad, Apr 30 (TNT): The Telangana Government appointed B. Shivadhar Reddy, Director General of Police, Telangana, as the State Security Advisor (SSA) upon his superannuation.
In his new role, Shivadhar Reddy will advise the Government on key matters relating to policing, law and order, internal security, crime control, narcotics control, and road safety, according to a GO issued by Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao on Wednesday.
The appointment has been made for a period of three years from the date he assumes charge.
The move is aimed at leveraging his extensive experience in law enforcement and public safety to strengthen the State’s security framework and policy planning.
Meanwhile, he Telangana Police bid a ceremonial farewell to B. Shivadhar Reddy, at a grand parade held at the RBVRR Telangana Police Academy here on Thursday, marking the conclusion of his distinguished career spanning over three decades.
The farewell parade featured ten contingents drawn from Telangana Special Police Battalions, Hyderabad and Cyberabad Commissionerates, along with a mounted unit.
The ceremony was attended by senior police officials, serving and retired officers, trainees, and family members, reflecting both institutional respect and personal regard.
During his career, Shivadhar Reddy played a key role in anti-Naxal operations in districts such as Visakhapatnam and Nalgonda, contributing to the widely recognized Andhra Pradesh–Telangana model of tackling extremism through coordinated intelligence and field operations.
The event also highlighted the transformation of policing in Telangana—from traditional enforcement to a more technology-driven and citizen-centric approach.
In his farewell address, Shri Shivadhar Reddy reflected on his journey in service, emphasizing the importance of integrity, empathy, and teamwork in policing.
He encouraged young officers to uphold these values while adapting to evolving challenges such as cybercrime, narcotics control, and urban security.
Senior officials, including C. V. Anand, who is set to assume charge as DGP (HoPF), attended the ceremony, underscoring continuity in leadership within the Telangana Police.
