Hyderabad, Apr 30 (TNT): Suchitra Ella, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Bharat Biotech, visited the Telangana State Museum at Public Gardens recently and explored its galleries, commending the institution for preserving a remarkable record of the region’s archaeological and cultural heritage.
She was accompanied by Shailaja Ramaiyer, Principal Secretary to Government, Revenue (Endowments) Department, along with other officials and representatives.
The delegation walked through several sections of the museum, viewing its archaeological collections and cultural exhibits.
Describing the museum as “a treasure house of invaluable heritage,” Ms. Suchitra Ella noted that there is much to learn from its collections and expressed keen interest in their preservation and presentation.
She stated that safeguarding such heritage is a shared responsibility and conveyed her willingness to identify partnership mechanisms involving knowledge partners and CSR funds.
She also appreciated the efforts of the Department of Archaeology and Museums in protecting these antiquities and expressed her readiness to support the museum’s facelift and modernization through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
Ms. Shailaja Ramaiyer, stated that antiquities represent the legacy of ancient dynasties and civilizations. She observed that museums play a vital role in educating present and future generations about history, archaeology, art, culture, and the achievements of earlier societies.
She emphasized that museums serve as centers of learning where visitors can understand the rich historical traditions of the country.
Arjun Rao Kuthadi, Director, Department of Heritage Telangana, informed the dignitaries about the urgent need for conservation and restoration of the historic museum building.
He also outlined proposals for the upgradation of all galleries, digitization of antiquities, and the establishment of specialized galleries such as a Coins Gallery, Arms and Weapons Gallery, and Fossils Gallery, along with the introduction of modern display techniques and improved visitor amenities.
The Director requested Suchitra Ella to extend CSR support for the comprehensive facelift of the State Museum so that it can be developed into a world-class heritage institution.
He stated that with such support, the museum can be transformed into a vibrant center for heritage education, tourism, and cultural pride.
The visiting dignitaries appreciated the efforts of the Department and assured their encouragement for preserving and promoting the archaeological heritage of Telangana.
