Telangana CM Revanth Challenges PM Modi to Seek Fresh Mandate, Cites Unfulfilled BJP Promises
Hyderabad, June 15 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to seek a fresh mandate from the people, alleging that the BJP had failed to fulfil several key promises made in its election manifestos over the past decade.
Addressing a press conference here, the Chief Minister said he was prepared to resign along with his Cabinet if the Prime Minister also stepped down and sought the people’s verdict.
“I am ready to tender my resignation along with my Cabinet. Let Narendra Modi also resign and seek a fresh mandate from the people,” Revanth Reddy said.
The Chief Minister alleged that several assurances made by the BJP in its 2014, 2019 and 2024 Lok Sabha election manifestos remained unfulfilled.
Referring to the BJP’s promise of creating two crore jobs annually, Revanth Reddy claimed that the commitment had not been honoured. He also questioned the Centre over its pledge to double farmers’ incomes and bring back black money stashed abroad.
The Telangana Chief Minister further alleged that promises relating to the deposit of ₹15 lakh in citizens’ bank accounts had not materialised.
“There are three BJP manifestos—2014, 2019 and 2024. The promises made in them have not been implemented,” he said.
Revanth Reddy also argued that the BJP lacked an independent majority in the Lok Sabha and was dependent on alliance partners to remain in power.
“The BJP does not have the moral right to demand resignations from others while depending on coalition partners for survival,” he said.
The Chief Minister asserted that the Congress government in Telangana enjoyed a comfortable majority and was not dependent on any other political party.
His remarks come amid an intensifying war of words between the ruling Congress in Telangana and the BJP over governance, development projects and implementation of election promises.
