Nestlé India’s Sanand Factory Completes Five Years of Operations in Gujarat
Commissioned in 2021, the facility spans more than 82 acres in Sanand GIDC and manufactures brands including MAGGI Noodles, MAGGI Masala-ae-Magic, KITKAT and MUNCH, the company said in a statement on Wednesday.
Nestlé India Chairman and Managing Director Manish Tiwary said the factory had strengthened the company’s manufacturing network while contributing to local employment, economic development and sustainable operations.
The facility employs around 700 people, with women accounting for approximately 25 per cent of the workforce.
It also employs around 20 persons with special abilities on the noodles production line, while the average age of its workforce is below 30 years, according to the company.
As part of its sustainability initiatives, the factory has installed biomass boilers to increase the use of renewable fuels, adopted natural gas in ovens and improved energy efficiency.
Renewable sources currently account for 28 per cent of its energy consumption.
The facility has also constructed 82 percolation wells to support groundwater recharge and conservation.
The factory sources key agricultural raw materials, including wheat flour and oils, locally and works with around 38 suppliers for raw and packaging materials, supporting regional supply chains.
Nestlé India said the Sanand facility would continue to support its growth plans, strengthen manufacturing capabilities and contribute to sustainable and inclusive development in Gujarat.
