SCR Intensifies Water Quality Checks at Charlapalli Railway Station
The samples were collected between October 12 and 18, 2026, as part of measures to ensure the supply of safe drinking water at the station, the SCR said in a release on Wednesday.
The monitoring covered groundwater sources, municipal water supply, storage facilities, chlorination processes and distribution systems.
SCR has also strengthened daily checks of residual chlorine levels and regular bacteriological testing to detect possible E. coli contamination.
Of the 50 samples tested, 42 were examined for residual chlorine levels and all were found satisfactory.
The remaining eight samples underwent bacteriological examination, with none found unsafe and no E. coli-positive sample detected, the release said.
South Central Railway General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava has directed officials to maintain continuous monitoring and ensure that drinking water remains free from contamination.
He stressed that water supplied at railway stations must meet the standards prescribed in the Indian Railways Medical Manual.
SCR said the inspections and monitoring measures form part of its ongoing efforts to ensure safe and potable drinking water across its railway network.
