Land security key agenda of coalition government: AP CM Naidu
P GANNAVARAM (Dr BR Ambedkar Konaseema), SEP 9 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday said the coalition government was committed to welfare, development and good governance, with protection of land rights among its key priorities.
Addressing a ‘Mee Bhoomi–Mee Hakku’ Gram Sabha at Panduvaripeta in P Gannavaram constituency, Naidu said the government was working to safeguard the rights of farmers and landowners and resolve long-pending land-related issues.
The Chief Minister alleged that the previous government had tampered with revenue records and committed irregularities in the name of resurvey.
He said the coalition government repealed the Land Titling Act soon after assuming office.
Naidu said the ongoing resurvey was being carried out in a transparent manner and pattadar passbooks were being issued with security features including e-KYC, QR codes and blockchain technology.
Resurvey had been completed in 8,234 villages and 36 lakh pattadar passbooks issued so far, he said, the government has set a target of issuing 56 lakh passbooks covering 8,582 villages by March next year.
The government had also introduced automatic mutation immediately after registration and capped stamp duty for partition of inherited lands at Rs 1,000, benefiting around 1.25 lakh families, Naidu said.
He said errors had been corrected and 16 lakh acres removed from the 22-A prohibited list. As many as 244 long-pending land disputes had also been addressed, while steps were being taken to resolve cases involving lands under 22-A prohibition in parts of Amalapuram dating back to the British era.
Measures concerning 56.37 acres of land had been taken, benefiting 1,410 people, he said.
Naidu said the government was giving priority to both water and land security. He alleged that the previous government’s negligence had damaged the Polavaram diaphragm wall and delayed the project.
He said more than 1,000 TMC of Godavari water had flowed into the sea this year and stressed the need to harness the resource for the state’s benefit.
The Chief Minister said the government was holding meetings with MLAs and district Collectors to improve delivery of citizen services at the grassroots level. He alleged that the opposition was obstructing development and creating hurdles for the government.
Earlier, Naidu laid the foundation stone for grid modernisation works of Eastern Power Distribution Company of Andhra Pradesh (APEPDCL), estimated to cost Rs 240 crore. The project is aimed at strengthening the power network and facilitating three-phase electricity supply.
Ministers K Atchannaidu, Anagani Satya Prasad and Vasamsetti Subhash, MP Ganti Harish, MLA Giddi Satyanarayana and others participated in the programme.
