KIMS Hospitals Hosts National Workshop on Gait Analysis and Aerobic Testing
Hyderabad, Sept 8 (TNT): The Department of Rehabilitation at KIMS Hospitals, Secunderabad, in association with Asian Transcare Rehabilitation Centre, organised a one-day national-level workshop titled “STRIDE & STAMINA: Gait Analysis & Aerobic Testing in Physiotherapy” to mark World Physiotherapy Day.
The workshop brought together more than 100 physiotherapists and rehabilitation specialists from across the region and focused on strengthening clinical expertise in human movement analysis and cardiopulmonary assessment.
Speaking at the event, Dr Sudhindra Vooturi, Director, Centre for Rehabilitation, said the workshop focused on integrating advanced clinical protocols, combining musculoskeletal gait analysis with cardiopulmonary functional assessment.
The programme featured two technical sessions. The morning session focused on advanced aerobic capacity assessment, while the afternoon session covered biomechanics using the Gait Lab.
Live clinical demonstrations were conducted to analyse pathological gait patterns associated with conditions including stroke and Parkinson’s disease.
Participants were also introduced to advanced 2D markerless video tracking and 3D kinematic analysis.
Dr Sunil Reddy (PT), Unit Head, Asian Transcare Rehabilitation, said objective biofeedback and reporting systems could improve the precision of rehabilitation management by enabling specialists to move beyond subjective assessment towards evidence-based treatment pathways.
KIMS Group of Hospitals Chairman and Managing Director Dr B. Bhaskar Rao called upon rehabilitation professionals to combine technology with compassion while treating patients with complex neurological, orthopaedic and cardiac conditions.
He emphasised the need for a holistic approach to rehabilitation and the adoption of advanced technologies to improve patient outcomes.
