GITAM Hyderabad Announces admissions for 2026-27; Launches School of Education
Hyderabad, June 17 (TNT) : GITAM (Deemed to be University), Hyderabad, on Wednesday s announced admissions for its undergraduate and postgraduate programmes for the academic year 2026-27 and launched the GITAM School of Education, marking a significant expansion of its multidisciplinary academic ecosystem.
The university has introduced several new programmes this year, including four-year integrated B.A. B.Ed. and B.Sc. B.Ed. courses under the Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP), BBA (Entrepreneurship) in association with the Bower School of Entrepreneurship, B.Sc. Microbiology, M.Sc. Biotechnology, M.Tech. in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, and M.Pharm. in Industrial Pharmacy (subject to Pharmacy Council of India approval), the University said in a release here.
A key feature of GITAM’s academic model is its Liberal Education framework, which enables students to combine majors and minors across disciplines and create personalised learning pathways.
The university said the approach allows students to acquire both specialised and interdisciplinary knowledge while developing future-ready skills.
Admissions are open through GAT 2026 as well as recognised national and state-level entrance examinations, including TG and AP EAPCET, NCET, NATA, JEE, CUET and CAT.
The university is offering scholarships of up to 100 per cent, covering tuition fees, food and accommodation for meritorious students based on academic performance and entrance examination scores.
The GITAM Admission Test (GAT) 2026, a national-level entrance examination conducted by the university, is scheduled to be held online across India on June 28, 2026, while the last date for submitting applications is June 26, 2026.
The Hyderabad campus currently offers programmes through its Schools of Technology, Science, Business, Humanities and Social Sciences, Architecture, Pharmacy, Public Policy and the newly established School of Education. Academic offerings span emerging fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Cyber Security, Biotechnology, Entrepreneurship, Pharmacy, Architecture, Psychology, Economics, Media Studies and Teacher Education.
The university also maintains strong industry linkages with more than 350 recruiters participating in campus placements.
Speaking on the occasion, GITAM Hyderabad Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. D. Sambasiva Rao said the launch of the School of Education and the introduction of new programmes in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, Entrepreneurship, Life Sciences and other emerging disciplines reflect the university’s commitment to preparing students for a rapidly evolving world.
He said GITAM’s multidisciplinary learning environment and liberal education framework are designed to help students explore diverse interests, develop critical skills and emerge as future-ready professionals, innovators and leaders.
Under its liberal education framework, students can choose from more than 600 combinations of majors and minors across the Schools of Science, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Business, he said.
Emphasising GITAM’s research credentials, Prof. Rao said the university has invested more than ₹100 crore in developing research infrastructure across its campuses.
He said the university has built advanced laboratories, strengthened access to global research databases and journals, and fostered a strong research culture across disciplines including science, pharmacy, business, architecture, education and humanities.
The institution has over 1,800 full-time faculty members across its Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Visakhapatnam campuses, with nearly 90 per cent holding doctoral degrees from reputed institutions in India and abroad, he added.
GITAM School of Education Head of Department Dr. Richard Sharma, Prof Ramesh Vaddi, Dr Mamata and Prof Shamuel Tharu were also present.
