Three drug peddlers arrested, MDMA and OG Kush worth Rs 16.40 lakh seized in Hyderabad
Hyderabad, Aug 19 (TNT): Gachibowli Police and SOT Cyberabad teams have arrested three alleged drug peddlers and seized 95.41 grams of MDMA and 50 grams of OG Kush, collectively valued at Rs 16.40 lakh, police said on Wednesday.
The police also apprehended 16 consumers in connection with the case. Two mobile phones were seized.
The case was registered under Sections 27(B), 8(C) and 22(C) of the NDPS Act at Gachibowli Police Station.
Police initially arrested Koripella Yashwanth Sai Shanmukh (26), near Kingdom Pub Road at Vattinagulapally on August 11 along with 16 consumers, the Cyberabad police said in a release here.
During questioning, he allegedly revealed that he had procured MDMA from Md Razal Abdul Gafoor of Kerala and Navina KD of Bengaluru.
Based on the information, special teams were formed to trace the two suspects in Kerala and Karnataka.
On August 18, police arrested Md Razal Abdul Gafoor, 26, at Thrissur in Kerala.
During questioning, he allegedly disclosed that he had supplied 44.41 grams of MDMA to Yashwanth and had procured the drug from a person identified as Sam, a Nigerian national.
On the same day, police arrested Navina KD, 22, at Begur in Bengaluru. A search of her residence led to the seizure of 51 grams of MDMA and 50 grams of OG Kush.
Police said she allegedly disclosed that the drugs had been procured from her friend Aneshwar from Kerala.
The seized MDMA was valued at Rs 11,40,920, while the OG Kush was valued at Rs 5 lakh, taking the total value of the seized drugs to Rs 16,40,920.
The arrests were made under the supervision of Serilingampally Zone DCP C.H. Srinivas, SOT Cyberabad DCP Shobhan Kumar, Additional DCP-I T. Govardhan, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Uday Reddy, Narsingi Division ACP G. Venkata Ramana Goud and other SOT Cyberabad and Gachibowli police personnel.
Police appealed to citizens to provide information on drug and ganja suppliers through Dial 100 or the Cyberabad Police WhatsApp number.
Educational institutions were also urged to remain vigilant and immediately inform police about drug-related activities.
