AP Govt Proposes Rs 22,000 Cr Green Energy Corridor to Integrate 18 GW Renewable Capacity
Amaravati, May 29 (TNT): The Andhra Pradesh Government has prepared proposals worth nearly ₹22,000 crore under Green Energy Corridor Phase-III to integrate 18 GW of green energy into the state’s main power grid.
Reviewing the power sector at the State Secretariat on Friday, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said Andhra Pradesh should emerge as a global hub for green energy, digital transformation and cybersecurity, while directing officials to accelerate the development of power infrastructure and renewable energy projects.
Officials informed the Chief Minister that the proposed integration would include 11 GW of solar power and around 7 GW of power generated through pumped storage projects.
To support the expansion, the State plans to lay 2,261 km of new transmission lines and establish five major pooling stations with a combined capacity of 9,500 MW at Mudigubba, Talupula, Ramayapatnam, Porumamilla and Koppaka.
Naidu said Andhra Pradesh had set an ambitious target of generating 160 GW of green energy and stressed that transmission infrastructure must be developed in advance to meet future requirements.
He noted that the Green Energy Corridor would play a key role in supplying reliable power to upcoming data centres and industrial projects while enhancing investment opportunities across sectors.
The Chief Minister said the State was positioning itself as a leader in renewable energy and future technologies and emphasised the need for timely execution of all infrastructure projects linked to the green energy ecosystem.
He directed officials to ensure that power sector reforms, renewable energy expansion and transmission network development proceed in a coordinated manner to support Andhra Pradesh’s long-term growth strategy.
Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar, Chief Secretary G. Sai Prasad, and senior officials from AP Transco, AP Genco and various DISCOMs attended the review meeting.
