Rly transformation under Modi will make Hyderabad future high-speed rail hub: Ramchander Rao

Hyderabad, July 17 (TNT): BJP Telangana president N. Ramchander Rao on Friday said the Centre’s sustained investment in railway infrastructure under Prime Minister Narendra Modi would transform Hyderabad into a major high-speed rail hub in the coming years.

Speaking after the virtual inauguration of the redeveloped Hi-Tech City Railway Station by Prime Minister Modi under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, Rao said the station, modernised at a cost of ₹35.61 crore, reflected the government’s commitment to upgrading railway infrastructure across the country.

He said the railway budget allocation for Telangana had increased from around ₹500 crore before 2014 to ₹4,900 crore, resulting in rapid development of new railway lines and infrastructure projects in the state.

Rao said nearly 41 railway stations in Telangana have been redeveloped with modern passenger amenities, including elevators, lifts and escalators, adding that railway stations had been transformed into world-class facilities comparable to airports.

The BJP leader said five Vande Bharat Express trains are currently operating from Hyderabad and claimed that three bullet train corridors and three high-speed rail corridors have been planned for Telangana, with land acquisition already underway.

Thanking Prime Minister Modi, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy and railway officials for the redevelopment of the station, Rao said the Indian Railways had witnessed unprecedented progress over the past 12 years.

He appealed to people to make greater use of rail transport and MMTS services to reduce fuel consumption, protect the environment and strengthen the economy.

Rao also recalled his association with the Railways, saying he had studied at the Railway Degree College.
