AP CM Naidu Seeks Singapore Partnership in Semiconductors, Quantum Tech and Urban Development
Singapore, June 15 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday met Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and sought Singapore’s cooperation in semiconductors, quantum technologies, artificial intelligence, urban governance, research partnerships and sustainable development.
During a 30-minute meeting at the Singapore Prime Minister’s official residence, Naidu discussed opportunities for expanding bilateral cooperation in technology, trade, education and infrastructure development.
The Chief Minister invited Singapore to explore imports of horticulture and aquaculture products from Andhra Pradesh, particularly produce cultivated through natural farming methods.
He informed Wong that the state is establishing certification and traceability systems for agricultural products and requested Singapore to consider sourcing certified farm and aquaculture products from Andhra Pradesh.
Naidu also sought Singapore’s support in developing semiconductor manufacturing ecosystems, quantum technologies, artificial intelligence applications and university-led research and innovation programmes in the state.
Emphasising urban development, the Chief Minister invited Singapore to collaborate in strengthening urban governance systems in Amaravati and other cities of Andhra Pradesh.
He also proposed cooperation in port-led development, airport infrastructure, logistics and emerging economic sectors.
During the discussions, Wong expressed interest in the development of Amaravati and sought details on the progress of the capital city project, including educational institutions, infrastructure initiatives and urban planning efforts.
Responding to the queries, Naidu said Amaravati is being developed as a future-ready and globally competitive city with world-class infrastructure and sustainable urban planning principles.
The Chief Minister also briefed the Singapore Prime Minister on Andhra Pradesh’s healthcare infrastructure initiatives and its target of generating 160 GW of green energy, positioning the state as a major destination for renewable energy investments.
The two leaders also exchanged views on demographic trends, affordable housing, childcare support systems and future growth opportunities in manufacturing and supply chain sectors.
Later, Naidu held talks with Singapore’s Minsiter for Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan on strengthening strategic cooperation between Andhra Pradesh and Singapore.
The discussions focused on improving air connectivity between Singapore and Andhra Pradesh, including the possibility of expanding flight services to multiple airports in the state.
Naidu highlighted Andhra Pradesh’s emergence as a major destination for manufacturing and services industries and outlined opportunities arising from the state’s industrial land availability, skilled workforce and investor-friendly policies.
He also showcased Andhra Pradesh’s strengths in green energy, green hydrogen and green ammonia production, noting that the state’s long coastline and port infrastructure offer significant advantages for trade and logistics.
The Chief Minister informed the Singapore Foreign Minister about the development of a data centre ecosystem in Visakhapatnam and plans to connect Andhra Pradesh to global digital networks through subsea cable infrastructure.
He also outlined the state’s vision of developing Amaravati as a “Quantum Valley” and a hub for advanced technology and innovation.
State Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P. Narayana, Shilpak Ambule and senior officials attended the meetings.
