APCM Naidu Invites National University of Singapore to Set Up Campus in Amaravati
Singapore, June 15 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday invited the National University of Singapore (NUS) to establish an international branch or satellite campus in Amaravati as part of the state’s efforts to develop the capital city into a global education and knowledge hub.
During a meeting with Prof. Tan Eng Chye, President of NUS in Singapore, the Chief Minister discussed opportunities for academic collaboration, research partnerships and higher education expansion in Andhra Pradesh.
Naidu informed the NUS leadership that several prestigious institutions had already established a presence in Amaravati and invited the university to become a key partner in the state’s higher education ecosystem.
He also sought support from the NUS Policy Institute in designing innovative public policies aimed at attracting global investments and accelerating economic growth in Andhra Pradesh.
During the interaction, NUS faculty members enquired about the progress of Amaravati’s development and recalled the university’s role in preparing the capital city’s master plan.
Responding positively, Prof. Tan Eng Chye said NUS would examine the possibility of establishing a presence in Amaravati and explore avenues for deeper collaboration with the state.
Later, the Chief Minister met members of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Andhra Pradesh business delegation and urged Telugu entrepreneurs to actively promote Andhra Pradesh as a preferred global investment destination.
Addressing industrialists and business leaders, Naidu said entrepreneurs from the Telugu community had built successful enterprises across the world and could play a key role in attracting investments into Andhra Pradesh.
“Industrialists must become ambassadors of Andhra Pradesh. Promoting the state globally means creating opportunities back home. We should showcase our strengths, bring international companies to Andhra Pradesh and build partnerships that generate employment and economic growth,” he said.
The Chief Minister highlighted the state’s investor-friendly policies, availability of skilled manpower, land resources, water availability and infrastructure, stating that Andhra Pradesh offered opportunities across sectors including food processing, logistics, electronics and semiconductors.
He also called upon global Telugu entrepreneurs to facilitate technology transfer, business partnerships and investments into the state.
During the visit, Naidu held a separate meeting with Lim Siong Guan, Advisor to the Executive Committee of GIC, to discuss governance reforms, administrative excellence and capacity-building initiatives.
The Chief Minister invited Lim to support training programmes for senior government officials and public representatives in areas such as leadership, governance and public administration.
In another engagement, Naidu met Singapore’s Minister for Trade and Industry Ms. Low Yen Ling and discussed strengthening Andhra Pradesh-Singapore cooperation in trade, industry, investments, innovation and economic development.
