Tirumala, May 6 (TNT): The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Trust Board on Wednesday approved a series of infrastructure, pilgrim welfare and temple development projects during its meeting held at Annamayya Bhavan under the chairmanship of B. R. Naidu.
The Board sanctioned construction of additional toilets in the Srivari Sarvadarshan queue lines at an estimated cost of ₹4.55 crore to improve facilities for pilgrims.
It also decided to assign spiritual and mythological names to roads and circles in Tirumala.
In a major push to educational infrastructure, the Board approved ₹43.40 crore for modernization works in TTD educational institutions, taking the total allocation for such works to ₹161.40 crore.
To strengthen water supply infrastructure in Tirumala, the Board sanctioned ₹6 crore for laying a new water pipeline from Gogarbham Dam to the Filter Plant.
The Board also approved the purchase of silk items and blankets worth ₹44.20 crore from APCO and Co-optex.
Among temple development initiatives, ₹55 lakh was sanctioned for construction of a Shiva temple at Vardhanapalli village in Alluri Sitarama Raju district (Andhra Pradesh).
The Board also approved development works worth ₹36.95 crore at Venkatapalem in Amaravati and construction of a Rajagopuram at Ananthavaram temple at a cost of ₹2.71 crore.
The Board decided to take steps for appointment of staff for the newly constructed Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple in Navi Mumbai.
TTD Board member Saurabh Bora offered to bear the expenses for construction of a Padmavathi Ammavari temple in Mumbai.
Development works worth ₹3.61 crore in Varahaswamy Rest House-1 in Tirumala and construction of a Yagasala at Alipiri for Srinivasa Divyanugraha Homam at a cost of ₹4.75 crore were also approved.
The Board appointed Shobha Raju, Padma Shri awardee, as TTD Asthana Vidwan.
Approval was also accorded for construction of a centralized administrative building in Tirumala and a Kalyana Mandapam at Lepakshi.
A committee will be constituted to frame a policy on donor privileges.
The Board further approved construction of a Srivari temple in Khammam on 20 acres allotted by the Telangana government.
In a welfare measure, darshan and laddu facilities will be extended to contract and outsourcing employees on par with regular staff.
The employee health reimbursement limit was enhanced by an additional ₹2 lakh, taking the total reimbursement to ₹5 lakh.
The Board also sanctioned construction of permanent shelters for bus checking points at Alipiri to ease traffic congestion and approved free hearing aids for 150 hearing-impaired children under the “Sravanam” project.
The meeting was attended by TTD Executive Officer M. Ravichandra, Additional EO Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary, JEO V. Veerabrahmam, CVSO K. V. Muralikrishna, Board members and other officials.
