Trainee IAS Officers Visit Polavaram, Pattiseema Projects Under AP Darshan Programme
Polavaram(Andhra Pradesh), June 16 (TNT): A team of 2025-batch trainee IAS officers visited the Polavaram Irrigation Project and Pattiseema Lift Irrigation Scheme here on Tuesday as part of the Andhra Pradesh government’s AP Darshan Programme to gain firsthand knowledge of the state’s major water infrastructure projects.
The trainee officers — CH Sravan Kumar Reddy, Hari Om Pandia, Kshitij Aditya Sharma, Namrat Agarwal, Pawan Teja A.R., Priya, Suyash Kumar and Venkatesh Banna — toured the Polavaram Irrigation Project, the Polavaram Hydroelectric Project and the Pattiseema Lift Irrigation Scheme.
During the visit, Polavaram Project Superintending Engineer Reddy Ramachandra Rao, Executive Engineer Balakrishna, Deputy Executive Engineer Srinivas, MEIL General Manager A. Gangadhar and Deputy General Manager Murali Pammi briefed the officers on the project’s objectives, design features, construction progress, engineering challenges and expected benefits.
The officials explained the importance of the Polavaram Project in providing irrigation, drinking water supply, hydroelectric power generation and flood management.
They also outlined the ongoing construction activities, key project components and measures being taken to ensure timely completion of the project.
The trainee officers later visited various project sites and inspected ongoing construction works.
They interacted with engineers and project officials to understand the technical, administrative and environmental aspects involved in executing one of the country’s largest multipurpose irrigation projects.
Appreciating the scale and engineering complexity of the project, the officers observed that the Polavaram Project would play a significant role in the socio-economic development of Andhra Pradesh.
They also noted the contribution of the Pattiseema Lift Irrigation Scheme in strengthening water resource management and enhancing irrigation support across the state.
