Telangana ACB Books Telangana Survey Official in DA Case, Unearths Assets Worth Over Rs 13-Cr C
Hyderabad, June 16 (TNT): The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday registered a disproportionate assets (DA) case against Sunkari Narahari Rao, Deputy Director, Multi Zone-II, Survey and Land Records Department, alleging that he had amassed assets disproportionate to his known sources of income through corrupt practices.
As part of the investigation, ACB officials conducted simultaneous searches at the officer’s residence and nine other locations linked to his relatives, benamis and associates.
During the searches, officials detected five open plots in Ranga Reddy district, 1.24 acres of agricultural land at Maheshwaram, a 2,500 sq ft flat at Puppalaguda, two flats measuring 1,860 sq ft each at Narsingi, and a 1,377 sq ft flat at Rajendra Nagar. A G+3 building at TNGOs Colony, Gachibowli, and a G+2 residential building at Chatrinaka were also found, the ACB said in a release here.
Besides cash about ₹1.54 crore, theACB recovered bank balances of ₹2.29 crore, fixed deposits worth ₹5.04 crore, gold ornaments weighing around 1.3 kg and 8 kg of silver from the officer’s residence.
Two lockers in the name of the officer’s wife were also detected and would be opened during the course of the investigation.
Officials further found a Kia Carens vehicle during the searches.
According to the ACB, the total value of the assets detected so far is estimated at ₹13.05 crore, while the market value of the immovable properties is expected to be substantially higher.
Further verification of additional assets is underway.
The accused officer was being produced before the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases, Nampally, for judicial remand.
