Sreenidhi University TG20 to begin in Hyderabad on June 21; Vijay Deverakonda as Brand Ambassador
Hyderabad, June 16 (TNT): Telangana’s newest franchise cricket tournament, the Sreenidhi University TG20, will commence at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium here on June 21.
Actor Vijay Deverakonda unveiled as the brand ambassador for the inaugural season.
The tournament opener will feature Palamuru Strikers taking on Anvita Khammam Aces under lights on June 21.
The league stage will run until July 7, followed by the playoffs beginning on July 9, while the final is scheduled for July 12.
The inaugural edition will feature several prominent names from Indian domestic and Telangana cricket. India pacer Mohammed Siraj will lead the challenge for Warangal Warriors, while India T20 vice-captain Tilak Varma and Ravi Teja will represent Medak Falcons.
Other notable players include Rahul Buddhi, Rakshann Readdi, CV Milind, Mickil Jaiswal, Tanmay Agarwal, Rohit Rayudu and Tanay Thyagarajan.
Among the marquee league-stage fixtures are Warangal Warriors versus Medak Falcons on June 22, featuring Siraj and Tilak Varma, the Hyderabad derby between Hyderabad E-Champions and Ranga Reddy Risers on June 25, and the regional rivalry clash between Palamuru Strikers and Warangal Warriors on July 3.
TG20 Governing Council Chairman V. Agam Rao said the schedule was designed to maintain momentum throughout the season with marquee clashes, rivalries and prime-time fixtures, adding that Vijay Deverakonda’s association would enhance the league’s visibility.
Speaking on the occasion, Vijay Deverakonda said the league would serve as a platform for discovering and nurturing cricketing talent from Telangana.
The opening ceremony, scheduled to begin at 5.30 pm on June 21, will feature a live performance by National Award-winning music composer S. Thaman.
Tickets for the inaugural season will go live on June 17.
Featuring eight franchises, double-headers, day-night matches and a mix of established and emerging players, the Sreenidhi University TG20 aims to provide a major platform for Telangana cricket while offering a world-class entertainment experience for fans.
Fans will be able to watch all matches live on Star Sports, Star Sports 2, Star Sports 2 Telugu and JioHotstar, ensuring extensive television and digital coverage for the tournament.
