Tirupati: NTR Followed Governance Ideals of Sri Krishnadevaraya: Medasani Mohan*

Tirupati, May 28 (TNT): HDPP Secretary Dr. Medasani Mohan on Thursday said legendary actor-politician N. T. Rama Rao (NTR) implemented the principles of governance followed by emperor Sri Krishnadevaraya and practised the ideals of “Rajadharma” described in the classical work *Amuktamalyada*.

Speaking at the 103rd birth anniversary celebrations of NTR organised by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) in Tirupati, Dr. Mohan described NTR as a visionary leader who listened to people’s problems and provided selfless governance.

He also recalled NTR’s contribution towards promotion of Telugu literature, encouragement to artistes and preservation of cultural traditions.

Andhra Pradesh Sangeeta Nataka Academy Chairman Gummadi Gopalakrishna said NTR used to immerse himself completely in divine roles before portraying them on screen, making his performances unique and inspirational for theatre artists.

Padma Shri awardee Shobha Raju recalled that NTR had readily responded to the proposal for installation of Annamayya’s statue at Tank Bund in Hyderabad and fulfilled the long-pending aspiration.

The celebrations commenced with lighting of the ceremonial lamp before NTR’s portrait, followed by cultural performances by renowned artistes.

Several guests and artistes were felicitated on the occasion.

TTD Deputy EO (Welfare) A. Anandaraju, SVETA In-charge Director Suvarnamma, Annamacharya Project Director Dr. Latha, literary personalities, artistes, officials and representatives of various TTD associations participated in the event.
