Telangana to Frame Policy to Promote GCCs Beyond Hyderabad

Hyderabad, May 20 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday directed officials to formulate a dedicated policy to encourage establishment of Global Capability Centres (GCCs) beyond Hyderabad’s Core Urban Regional Economy (CURE) area, aiming to decentralise employment opportunities to Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities across Telangana.

During a review meeting of the IT and Industries departments held along with Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu, the Chief Minister instructed officials to incentivise companies setting up GCCs along the Nizamabad, Karimnagar and Warangal highway corridors, identified as CURE and Beyond CURE growth zones.

The State government plans to position underserved regions as the next engines of economic growth by expanding IT and industrial investments beyond Hyderabad, the Chief Minister also asked officials to explore establishing data centres in underserved areas within and beyond the city.

Revanth Reddy stressed that all engineering works in the proposed Bharat Future City (BFC) should follow net-zero principles while maintaining global standards.

He directed officials to prioritise development of trunk infrastructure across the planned zones in BFC.

The Chief Minister said consultations would be initiated with the Government of India for establishing one of the five regional medical hubs announced in the Union Budget within the proposed Health City in Bharat Future City.

He also directed officials to expedite development of the proposed AI City in BFC after studying global best practices in artificial intelligence infrastructure.

Officials were instructed to speed up preparatory works to facilitate early foundation stone-laying ceremonies for industrial corridor facilities in BFC.

To strengthen workforce readiness, Revanth Reddy asked officials to ensure that companies allotted land in BFC sign Memorandums of Understanding for skilling and certification programmes aligned with industry talent requirements.

On the proposed ‘Invest Telangana’ initiative, the Chief Minister suggested adopting best practices from other States to establish a dedicated investment promotion agency capable of providing end-to-end support for investors and companies.

He proposed forming a society for ‘Invest Telangana’ with a dynamic governance structure involving senior officials from departments such as Energy and Finance as special invitees, while IT and Industries department officials would serve as regular appointees.

The Chief Minister also proposed appointing escort officers to assist investors from their arrival in Hyderabad till operationalisation of projects.

Further, he instructed officials to prepare a roadmap for shifting all government offices in the State to T-Fiber internet connectivity from private operators within the next three months.

Officials informed the meeting that departments shifting to T-Fiber had generated orders worth Rs 54 crore during the last six months.

Senior officials, including Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, Special Secretary to the Chief Minister B. Ajith Reddy, TGIIC Vice-Chairman and Managing Director K. Shashanka, IT and Communications Joint Secretary Anudeep Durishetty, and Industries Commissioner Nikhil Chakravarthi, attended the meeting.
