Telangana Govt to form high-level panel to resolve land issues: CM Revanth
Hyderabad, Sept 16 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday announced that a high-level committee would be constituted to address land-related issues, including complaints concerning lands placed in the 22-A prohibited list.
Participating in a debate in the Legislative Assembly, Revanth said the government would soon introduce a new policy for urban land regularisation and a system for simultaneous land registration and regularisation.
He said new guidelines for authorised layouts would be issued within a week after verification by the concerned authorities.
The Chief Minister said ‘Bhu Bharati’ was introduced in 2025 to resolve issues related to land records.
He said Section 22-A was enacted in the erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh in 1999 and was not introduced by the present government.
According to Revanth , more than seven lakh acres had been placed on the prohibited list during the Dharani period, while the figure had come down to around three lakh acres by 2026.
He said forest, assigned and temple lands would continue to remain on the list, while the dispute concerned 3.77 lakh acres of private land.
The Chief Minister accused the previous BRS government of irregularities in land records and alleged that the Dharani system facilitated the transfer and encroachment of lands.
He also levelled allegations against BRS leaders over land transactions during the previous regime.
Revanth also raised allegations concerning lands associated with the My Home group and said the government would examine alleged encroachments involving assigned, forest and Bhoodan lands.
He said the government was recommending a probe by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) into alleged land encroachments in Sangareddy and other areas.
Referring to Singareni lands, the Chief Minister said a high-level district committee would be constituted to address pending land issues.
He suggested that union leaders hold discussions with Singareni management to work out a solution.
He said pending applications under GO 118 would be resolved within a stipulated timeframe and land-related issues in LB Nagar would also be addressed.
On the Indiramma housing scheme,Revanth said beneficiaries allotted government land would have a five-year lock-in period, after which they would be allowed to sell the land.
He added that payment of NALA charges along with registration fees would enable immediate completion of the registration process.
The Chief Minister also criticised BRS members for disrupting Assembly proceedings and said the rules governing entry into the House, including restrictions on clothing bearing slogans, had been approved during the previous government.
