Telangana DGP Anand directs comprehensive security arrangements for Ganesh festivities
Hyderabad, Sept 7 (TNT): Telangana Director General of Police C.V. Anand on Monday directed police officers to make comprehensive security arrangements for the peaceful conduct of Ganesh festivities across the State.
The DGP held a video conference with SIs and senior police officers from across Telangana at the DGP office and reviewed the preparedness for the festivities, scheduled from September 14 to 25, with Ganesh idol immersion slated for September 25.
Anand said a dedicated online portal had been introduced to collect and monitor details of Ganesh pandals. Information on the location of pandals, organisers, committee members and vehicles being used for idol immersion should be updated on the platform.
Station House Officers (SHOs) have been provided dedicated logins to monitor arrangements and activities relating to the pandals. Commissioners of Police, DCPs and SPs should visit the pandals and record their observations and remarks in point books, he directed.
Focus on electrical safety, traffic management
The DGP directed police to pay special attention to electrical safety and traffic management around Ganesh pandals and coordinate closely with the Electricity, Fire and other departments.
Organisers should be encouraged to deploy volunteers and ensure adequate CCTV surveillance and queue-management arrangements at the pandals, he said.
Advance planning for immersion
Police should collect advance information on immersion routes, roads and bridges, including their load-bearing capacity, and make appropriate traffic and security arrangements for September 25, Anand said.
He directed officers to use geo-tagging and the event application to record pandal locations and security precautions. BD teams and dog squads should be deployed as required for security purposes.
The geo-tagging and verification details should also be uploaded on the TG-COP platform, he said.
Coordination key to peaceful celebrations
Anand stressed the need for close coordination among police stations, Commissioners of Police, DCPs and district SPs.
He directed officers to hold meetings with Ganesh Utsav committees and peace committees and conduct briefing sessions for police personnel deployed on bandobust duty.
He also instructed officers to keep a close watch on social media and promptly address issues that could affect public order.
With effective coordination among all departments and stakeholders, the Ganesh festivities from September 14 to 25, including the immersion on September 25, should be conducted peacefully, the DGP said.
The meeting was attended by DG Technical Services V.V. Srinivasa Rao, IG Intelligence Karthikeya, IG Multizone-I Chandrasekhar Reddy, T-SPARK SP Rupesh, AIG Ramana Kumar, Hyderabad City DCP Avinash Kumar, DCP Vikranth Kumar Singh and other senior police officials.
