Telangana CM urges Bharti Group to Expand Investments in State’s Digital Sector
Hyderabad, June 30 (TNT)) : Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Tuesday urged Bharti Enterprises Chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal to significantly expand Bharti Group’s footprint in the state, with a focus on digital infrastructure, cloud computing, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, as the state intensifies its push to position Hyderabad as a global tech hub.
During a meeting at the MCRHRD Bodhi Pavilion, the Chief Minister proposed the establishment of a large-scale integrated data centre and AI infrastructure campus in Telangana, and called for the early rollout of the Chandanvelli data centre project.
Revanth Reddy also asked the Bharti Group to nominate a senior executive to coordinate directly with the state government to facilitate investments and expedite clearances related to upcoming projects.
According to official sources, Mittal informed the Chief Minister that Bharti Airtel is evaluating Hyderabad as a potential second headquarters and is planning to expand its data centre capacity and fibre connectivity network in a major way.
The Chief Minister also briefed Mittal on the state government’s ongoing reforms in the education and skilling ecosystem, including the establishment of Young India Skill University, upgradation of ITIs into Advanced Technology Centres (ATCs), and strengthening of polytechnic institutions to improve job readiness among youth.
Mittal, in turn, announced that the Bharti Foundation would extend scholarships to students in government schools and ATCs in Telangana.
The meeting underscores the Telangana government’s aggressive pitch to attract large-scale investments in AI, cloud and digital infrastructure, with Hyderabad being positioned as a key emerging destination for global technology expansion.
