Telangana CEO Clarifies Special Intensive Revision Process, Urges Voter Participation

Hyderabad, June 20 (TNT): Telangana Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) C. Sudharsan Reddy on Saturday clarified various aspects of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and appealed to citizens to actively participate in the exercise to ensure accurate and error-free voter lists.

Addressing a press conference here, the CEO said the Election Commission of India has undertaken the Special Intensive Revision to improve the accuracy and integrity of electoral rolls by removing duplicate and ineligible entries, deleting names of deceased voters and ensuring inclusion of all eligible citizens.

According to the Election Commission’s schedule, the SIR process will commence on June 25 and conclude with the publication of the final electoral roll on October 1, 2026.

Reddy said house-to-house enumeration will be conducted between June 25 and July 24, during which Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will visit every household and distribute pre-printed Enumeration Forms. Each BLO will make at least three visits to ensure maximum coverage.

The draft electoral roll will be published on July 31, followed by the claims and objections period from July 31 to August 30. Verification, hearings and disposal of claims will continue until September 28 before the publication of the final electoral roll on October 1.

The CEO said voters who do not receive Enumeration Forms can obtain them from BLOs or access them online. BLOs will also assist citizens in filling up the forms wherever required.

Highlighting digital services introduced for voter convenience, he said electors can verify whether their names existed in the 2002 electoral roll, search details of parents or grandparents and submit Enumeration Forms online through the Election Commission’s portal. The facility is particularly intended to help voters residing outside their native places, employed in other states or living abroad.

Clarifying doubts regarding Aadhaar, Reddy said furnishing Aadhaar details is optional and not mandatory for submission of Enumeration Forms.

He also informed that citizens who have attained 18 years of age, or will attain the age on or before October 1, 2026, can apply for enrolment through Form-6 during the revision process.

Address changes can be sought through Form-8 after publication of the draft electoral roll and will be processed during the claims and objections period, he added.

The CEO clarified that no documents are required during the house-to-house enumeration stage. However, Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) may seek supporting documents during verification after publication of the draft roll wherever necessary. Such documents may include birth certificates, passports, educational certificates, residence certificates and other government-issued records.

Citizens were advised to submit Enumeration Forms promptly. Officials cautioned that if forms are not submitted and subsequent verification reveals that an elector is deceased, has shifted residence, is absent or is enrolled elsewhere, the name may not be included in the draft electoral roll.

Appealing for public cooperation, Reddy urged all eligible voters to participate actively in the revision exercise and assist election officials in maintaining accurate, inclusive and transparent electoral rolls.

For assistance, voters can contact their respective BLOs, use the “Book a Call with BLO” facility or call the Voter Helpline number 1950.
