Syneos Health opens global life sciences, technology centre in Hyderabad
Hyderabad, Sept 23 (TNT): Syneos Health, a leading fully integrated biopharmaceutical solutions organization, on Wednesday opened its new Global Life Sciences and Technology Centre in Hyderabad, a 137,000-sq-ft facility that will bring together clinical, commercial, scientific, technology and artificial intelligence capabilities for drug development and commercialisation.
The centre, inaugurated by Telangana IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu, is Syneos Health’s largest facility in Asia and third-largest globally, with an initial workforce of more than 700 professionals, which is expected to grow in the coming years, the company said in a release here.
The new facility will house capabilities spanning clinical development, commercialisation, medical affairs, technology, AI and corporate functions.
The company is also positioning India as a strategic growth hub, with global leaders and teams based in Hyderabad supporting drug development and commercialisation for customers worldwide.
Speaking at the inauguration, Sridhar Babu said Hyderabad had built a strong life sciences ecosystem and a deep technology talent pool, and that the next opportunity was to combine these strengths with AI.
He said Hyderabad had the talent and ecosystem to become a global testbed for AI-enabled life sciences, with the State’s ecosystem covering APIs, bulk drugs, generics, CDMO, vaccines, research and discovery and a growing presence of global healthcare and biotech GCCs.
The release said Hyderabad accounts for 20-23 per cent of India’s healthcare-biotech GCC market.
With Syneos Health joining the ecosystem, four of the world’s top five Contract Research Organisations (CROs) now have a presence in Hyderabad.
Syneos Health Head of Operational Excellence Tom Wollman said India had been an important part of the company’s global organisation for more than two decades and was now helping shape its future direction.
Jinu Jose, General Manager, India and Strategic Growth Hubs, Syneos Health, said the facility would serve as a strategic hub bringing together global leaders, clinical and commercial experts, technologists and innovators to develop new capabilities and support customers worldwide.
The company said the centre’s opening marked another step in its long-term commitment to India and reflected Telangana’s growing role as a destination for life sciences, technology and innovation.
