SPV to be set up for strengthening Telangana’s T-Fiber Network under BharatNet Program
Hyderabad, May 27 (TNT) : Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday said the State Government would establish a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to develop a robust fibre network across Telangana under the Amended BharatNet Programme (ABP).
During a video conference with Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, the Chief Minister, accompanied by State IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu, discussed issues relating to implementation of the T-Fiber project and sought Central support for strengthening digital infrastructure across rural Telangana.
Officials said the T-Fiber network is planned to connect every Gram Panchayat in the State through a ring architecture model designed to ensure uninterrupted internet services even if one network route is disrupted.
In the first phase, restoration of damaged digital connectivity infrastructure will be undertaken in 3,089 villages across the erstwhile districts of Nizamabad, Rangareddy and Khammam.
Under the Amended BharatNet Programme , these villages will be connected with modern fibre infrastructure aimed at providing future-ready broadband connectivity on par with the rest of the State.
During the meeting, Revanth Reddy highlighted Telangana’s vision of providing reliable high-speed internet connectivity to every village and household and sought expeditious release of pending Central funds for implementation of the project.
Discussions also focused on early finalisation of the implementation agreement, transfer of ring network assets from mandal level to Gram Panchayats and utilisation of the Digital Bharat Nidhi framework.
According to officials, Union Minister Scindia assured full cooperation from the Centre for smooth implementation of the T-Fiber project.
The State Government has already approved establishment of the SPV and is moving towards signing an agreement with the Centre for creating a unified digital backbone across Telangana.
Officials said the ring architecture model would ensure uninterrupted broadband services through alternative routes in the event of disruptions, thereby enabling reliable high-speed internet access in rural areas.
Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, Special Secretary to the Chief Minister B. Ajit Reddy, IT Department Joint Secretary D. Anudeep and senior officials participated in the video conference.
