Hyderabad, Apr 18 (TNT): World Renowned Indian gastroenterologist Dr. D. Nageshwar Reddy, Chairman of AIG Hospitals, Hyderabad has been elected to the College of Fellows of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) , a prestigious global body representing the top tier of medical and biological engineers.
Election to the AIMBE College of Fellows is limited to the top 2 percent of professionals in the field worldwide and recognises outstanding contributions to research, innovation, and translation of science into clinical practice.
The Fellows include Nobel Laureates, recipients of the U.S. National Medal of Science and National Medal of Technology, and members of leading scientific academies, the Hyderabad based Institue said in a release here on Saturday.
The AIMBE College of Fellows plays a key role in advancing global healthcare by promoting biomedical innovation, improving access to healthcare technologies, and supporting investment in science and engineering, while engaging with policymakers and research agencies.
Reacting to the honour, Dr. Reddy said he was “deeply honoured” and emphasised the need for an integrated ecosystem bringing together clinicians, engineers, academia, industry and policymakers to drive innovation.
He highlighted the potential of indigenous medical technologies and artificial intelligence in transforming healthcare delivery in India and globally.
Dr. Reddy is widely recognised for transforming gastrointestinal endoscopy into a therapeutic discipline and advancing minimally invasive care in gastroenterology.
He is also the inventor of the ‘NAGI Stent’, a device used globally for drainage of pancreatic pseudocysts, significantly improving patient outcomes.
Under his leadership, AIG Hospitals has emerged as a centre of excellence in advanced clinical care, research, and technology-driven innovation, integrating translational research and artificial intelligence into routine medical practice.
