New Delhi, Apr 18 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, who met Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi here on Saturday, congratulated her for guiding efforts to ensure opposition unity against what he termed an “undemocratic” Constitutional amendment proposal.
Revanth alleged that the proposed changes were aimed at weakening the representation of southern, north-eastern and smaller states.
Praising Priyanka Gandhi’s role, he said she had “clearly exposed” the intent behind the move and explained that the special parliamentary session was not genuinely focused on women’s empowerment.
According to him, the Women’s Reservation Bill had already been passed unanimously earlier, and the session was instead being used as a platform to advance a delimitation agenda that was not acceptable to several states.
On behalf of the people of Telangana, he expressed gratitude to Priyanka Gandhi for her efforts in supporting Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge in bringing together opposition parties.
The Chief Minister also said he drew inspiration from her encouraging remarks, particularly her appreciation of his efforts to highlight concerns over the proposed delimitation model and to advocate for alternative approaches that safeguard federal balance.
