Politics should be about public service, not just elections: Telangana BJP Prez
Hyderabad, Sept 23 (TNT): BJP Telangana President N. Ramchander Rao on Wednesday said politics should not be confined to elections and votes, and that selfless service to society should be an integral part of public life.
Addressing after inaugurating Mega Blood Donation Camp organised by the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) at Nagole under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan and donating blood, Rao said public representatives could derive true satisfaction from serving society and called upon political leaders and workers to make public service a priority.
The Seva Sankalp Abhiyan was organised to promote the spirit of service on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday and to mark his 25 years in public life, according to the party.
Rao appreciated the BJYM initiative under which, according to the party, 25,000 young men and women across Telangana were donating blood.
He recalled that he had also donated blood several times since his student days and urged more youngsters to participate in blood donation drives.
He also spoke about the Modi government’s initiatives in the education sector, including expansion of IITs, AIIMS, IIMs and higher educational institutions, and said schemes aimed at students and youth were contributing to the country’s development.
He called upon the youth to take inspiration from Modi’s public service and actively participate in social service activities.
MP Eatala Rajender, MLC Malka Komuraiah, BJP State General Secretary (Organisation) Chandrashekhar Tiwari, State General Secretaries N. Gautam Rao and Veerender Goud, State Vice Presidents Kasam Venkateshwarlu and Banda Karthika Reddy, BJYM State president Ganesh Kunde and other party leaders, workers, students and youth attended the programme.
