AP CM Naidu, Nirmala Sitharaman to lay foundation for Rayalaseema Horticulture Hub on Oct 2
Amaravati, Sept 23 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, along with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, will lay the foundation stone for the Rayalaseema Horticulture Hub and launch project works at Madanapalle on October 2.
The Centre will provide Rs 40,000 crore under the Purvodaya scheme for the project, while another Rs 60,000 crore is expected through private investment, an official release said here on Wednesday.
The project will be implemented across the four erstwhile districts of Rayalaseema as well as Prakasam and Nellore districts, with a focus on promoting horticulture-related activities in drought-prone areas and strengthening the agricultural economy.
The State government is simultaneously taking up irrigation projects to provide assured water for cultivation and promoting horticulture to improve farmers’ incomes, the release said.
The foundation stone for the Indian School of Agriculture, being established by Reliance at Madanapalle, will also be laid during the programme.
The institution will provide education and training in agriculture, it said.
Meanwhile, Naidu will participate in a series of programmes from September 29 to October 3.
On September 29, he will attend the DoPT Karmayogi Mission programme in Vijayawada in the morning and the Palle Panduga programme at Udayagiri in Nellore district in the afternoon.
On September 30, he will participate in the distribution of house-site pattas in Vijayawada to 24,000 beneficiaries.
On October 1, the Chief Minister will participate in the ‘Pedala Sevalo’ programme and distribute pensions.
After launching the Horticulture Hub works at Madanapalle on October 2, he will participate in the Swarna Andhra–Swachha Andhra programme and, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, take part in the annual Swachha Andhra programme in Vijayawada.
On October 3, Naidu will participate in the Pan-IIT Conference in Vijayawada.
