Naidu Urges Cadre to Boost Vote Share; Nara Lokesh Takes Charge as TDP Working President
Amaravati, Apr 29 (TNT): TDP Supremo and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday called upon newly appointed Telugu Desam Party (TDP) committee members to work towards increasing the party’s vote share in the next elections, stressing the need to win greater public confidence at the grassroots level.
The Chief Minister was addressing the swearing-in ceremony of newly constituted party committees at the TDP central office, where he administered the oath to members of the politburo and national and state committees.
On the occasion, Nara Lokesh, the Minister for IT, formally assumed charge as the party’s national working president.
Naidu set a clear target for the party, stating that the coalition must improve upon its previous electoral performance.
He urged cadre to focus on booth-level strengthening and continuous expansion of the vote base.
Highlighting organisational changes, he said that for the first time, leaders from mandal and cluster levels were inducted into the politburo, reflecting the party’s “worker is the leader” philosophy.
He added that a balance was maintained between senior leaders and youth, while giving importance to active contributors, including those engaged through social media. Greater representation was also extended to women and educated leaders.
Naidu emphasised that the electorate had supported the alliance with expectations of rebuilding the state, and called on party workers to communicate development initiatives, welfare measures and long-term vision effectively to the public.
He expressed confidence that local body elections would favour the party if cadre worked sincerely.
Praising Lokesh’s role, Naidu said he had been instrumental in sustaining the party during its years in opposition and in strengthening its organisational structure after returning to power.
He credited him with driving training programmes, worker welfare initiatives and efforts to attract investments to the state.
The Chief Minister said the coalition government is reviving the state’s economy with support from the Centre, while accelerating key projects, improving governance delivery and restoring investor confidence.
He cited ongoing efforts in infrastructure development, including ports, airports and highways, as well as plans to transform Visakhapatnam into a technology hub.
Naidu also launched a sharp attack on opposition parties, accusing them of running misleading campaigns to obstruct investments.
He alleged that such “false propaganda” was aimed at creating confusion among the public but asserted that Andhra Pradesh continues to attract major investments.
Reiterating party discipline as a core principle, he cautioned leaders against internal disputes and misuse of power. He called for coordination among alliance partners –TDP, Jana Sena and BJP and urged leaders to avoid arrogance, stressing that public trust must be maintained through responsible conduct.
