Musi Rejuvenation Phase-II to Begin Soon, Action Plan Ready in 100 Days: CM Revanth Reddy

Hyderabad, June 7(TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Sunday said the state government is moving ahead with the Musi Rejuvenation Project and will soon launch Phase-II works covering the stretch from Nagole to Gaurelli.

Addressing a public meeting after laying the foundation stone for the Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation building and various development projects worth ₹1,600 crore, the Chief Minister said the government had prepared a detailed action plan for the next phase of the project within 100 days.

Highlighting the importance of riverfront development, Reddy pointed out that successful riverfront projects have been developed along the Sabarmati River in Gujarat, the Ganga in Uttar Pradesh and the Yamuna in Delhi.

“Should we not clean up the Musi River?” he asked, asserting that the state government was committed to restoring the river and transforming its surroundings.

The Chief Minister said the proposed development of the Musi River along the 55-kilometre stretch from Gandipet to Gaurelli to international standards would generate substantial employment opportunities for youth and help transform the region into a major global tourist destination.

He noted that pollution in the Musi River has adversely affected land values in the surrounding areas and has also contributed to public health concerns, particularly in parts of Nalgonda district.

Reddy recalled undertaking a padayatra in response to appeals from people in Nalgonda who had urged the government to address pollution in the river and improve environmental conditions.

The Chief Minister also criticised opposition parties for allegedly obstructing the government’s efforts to implement rehabilitation and development measures linked to the Musi project.

He said the government was committed to providing housing, education and other support facilities to families displaced by the project and accused opposition parties of creating hurdles in the implementation process.

Reiterating the government’s commitment to urban transformation and environmental restoration, Reddy said the Musi Rejuvenation Project would play a crucial role in improving Hyderabad’s infrastructure, public health standards and economic prospects while creating new opportunities for future generations.
