BRS Accuses Revanth Reddy of ‘Authoritarian Mindset’, Slams Remarks on HYDRAA

Hyderabad, June 7 (TNT): Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) on Sunday criticised Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy over his comments at The Hindu Huddle in Bengaluru, alleging that they revealed what he described as the Congress government’s authoritarian approach to governance.

In a statement, KTR referred to the Chief Minister’s remarks regarding the functioning of HYDRAA and claimed that they exposed the mindset behind what he termed a demolition-driven governance model.

“Hitler is clearly Revanth Reddy’s inspiration. HYDRAA reflects a style of governance that glorifies force, intimidation and demolitions. The people of Telangana have experienced these authoritarian tendencies firsthand, and now the Chief Minister has openly acknowledged the inspiration behind them,” KTR alleged.

The BRS leader accused the Congress government of using HYDRAA in a manner that adversely affected the livelihoods and properties of ordinary citizens.

“You celebrate dictators and take pride in demolishing the homes of poor and middle-class families. Telangana already knows your authoritarian nature. By publicly expressing admiration for Hitler-inspired methods, you have exposed your fascist thinking before the entire country,” he said.

Contrasting the Congress government with the previous BRS administration, KTR said the BRS had governed Telangana on the basis of democratic and constitutional principles.

“Our ideals are Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Mahatma Gandhi and Professor Jayashankar—not Hitler. During our ten years in government, we administered Telangana according to the spirit of the Constitution drafted by Dr. Ambedkar, the principles of non-violence advocated by Mahatma Gandhi, and the vision of Telangana’s chief ideologue Professor Jayashankar,” he stated.

KTR also questioned whether the Congress leadership endorsed the Chief Minister’s remarks and sought clarification from the party’s high command.

“Does the Congress leadership approve of such statements? Is publicly invoking Hitler as an inspiration acceptable in a democratic country? The people of Telangana deserve answers,” he said.

The BRS Working President further alleged that the Congress government had become synonymous with coercion, demolitions and intimidation rather than governance and welfare.

He asserted that Telangana’s people would reject any attempt to normalise authoritarian governance and reiterated his party’s commitment to democratic values and constitutional principles.

“Telangana will reject dictatorship. Governments that target people’s homes instead of solving people’s problems will ultimately face the people’s verdict. Democracy and constitutional governance—not authoritarianism—are the foundations of our Republic,” KTR said.

He maintained that the BRS would continue to oppose what it described as arbitrary governance and work to safeguard the rights of citizens and democratic institutions in the state.
