Telangana CM Accuses Kishan Reddy of Delaying Metro Expansion, RRR and Musi Projects

Hyderabad, June 7 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Sunday alleged that Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy was creating hurdles in the implementation and approval of several major projects crucial to the state’s development.

Addressing a public meeting after laying the foundation stone for the Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation building and other development works, the Chief Minister said delays in obtaining approvals for Metro Rail Phase-II and Phase-III had adversely affected Hyderabad’s growth trajectory.

He claimed that Hyderabad Metro, which was once among the country’s leading urban transport systems, had slipped to the ninth position due to delays in securing approvals for its expansion.

“We have secured all necessary approvals from our side, but hurdles are being created to stall Metro Rail Phase-II and III,” the Chief Minister alleged.

Reddy also said the proposed Regional Ring Road (RRR), which he described as a transformative project capable of enhancing Telangana’s global competitiveness, was still awaiting approval.

The Chief Minister stated that he had visited New Delhi nearly 50 times over the past two-and-a-half years and met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on multiple occasions seeking clearance for the project.

Questioning the Union Minister’s role, Revanth Reddy asked whether Kishan Reddy, who represents Hyderabad, did not have a responsibility to secure approvals and financial support for key infrastructure initiatives.

“Did the people of Hyderabad not vote for Kishan Reddy? Doesn’t he bear the responsibility of securing approvals for the Metro and bringing funds for the Musi project?” he asked.

The Chief Minister also criticised the Centre over paddy procurement and warned that the state government would strongly respond if the Union Government failed to procure paddy from Telangana after June 15.

He said the state had already procured around 70 lakh metric tonnes of paddy and questioned why the Centre was not extending adequate support.

“Doesn’t the responsibility of ensuring Central procurement of paddy also rest with Kishan Reddy?” he asked.

Continuing his criticism, Revanth Reddy alleged that the Union Minister was engaging in “collusive politics” with opposition parties and was not cooperating with the state government on development issues.

He claimed that despite offering to work together for Telangana’s development, Kishan Reddy had not facilitated meetings with key Union Ministers to help advance state projects.

The Chief Minister further alleged that delays in discussions with the Maharashtra government regarding the proposed Tummidihatti Barrage were also linked to a lack of support from the Union Minister.

At the same time, Reddy said the state government was prepared to honour Kishan Reddy if he cooperated in securing approvals and support for Telangana’s development projects.

“If he extends cooperation, we will felicitate him with a ‘Ganda-Penderam’ at LB Stadium,” the Chief Minister remarked.

Revanth Reddy maintained that the Telangana government would continue pursuing approvals for major infrastructure projects and would not compromise on the state’s development agenda.
