Modi, Mauritius PM Ramgoolam Review Bilateral Ties, Reaffirm Strategic Partnership

Victoria (Seychelles), June 28 (TNT): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday held bilateral talks with Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam on the sidelines of Seychelles’ Golden Jubilee National Day celebrations.

During the meeting, the two leaders reviewed the progress of ongoing bilateral cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to deepening the India-Mauritius Enhanced Strategic Partnership.

The meeting marked the fourth interaction between the two Prime Ministers since Ramgoolam assumed office in November 2024.

The leaders reviewed the implementation of the Special Economic Package extended by India to Mauritius and discussed ongoing bilateral projects in key sectors.

Prime Minister Modi reiterated India’s commitment to Mauritius’ development and progress, noting that the projects being implemented with Indian assistance would contribute to the island nation’s healthcare, connectivity, sustainable development and the blue economy.

The two leaders reaffirmed the importance of the India-Mauritius Enhanced Strategic Partnership under India’s Vision MAHASAGAR (Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions) and the Neighbourhood First policy, while underscoring their shared commitment to advancing the interests of the Global South.

Modi and Ramgoolam also agreed to continue working closely to promote mutual growth and strengthen peace, stability and prosperity in the Indian Ocean Region.
