Lupin’s Atharv Ability opens neuro-rehabilitation centre in Hyderabad
Hyderabad, Sept 15 (TNT): Atharv Ability, an initiative of Lupin, has opened a neuro-rehabilitation centre in Gachibowli, Hyderabad, marking its entry into South India.
The centre provides rehabilitation services for patients with neurological and developmental conditions, including stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy and developmental delays, the pharma company said in a release on Tuesday.
The facility offers multidisciplinary rehabilitation services and is equipped with robotic-assisted gait training systems, robotic hand rehabilitation technologies, aquatic therapy facilities, an advanced neuro-gym and a dedicated paediatric rehabilitation wing.
Atharv Ability said the centre will provide rehabilitation for patients across different age groups and stages of recovery.
Its multidisciplinary model involves different therapeutic specialties working together to develop rehabilitation plans based on individual patient requirements.
The centre operates on an outpatient basis, enabling patients to receive rehabilitation services without prolonged hospital stays.
The Hyderabad facility builds on the clinical model developed by Atharv Ability through its centre in Mumbai, the organisation said.
According to the World Health Organization, neurological conditions affect more than three billion people globally and are the leading cause of ill health and disability.
Stroke remains one of the major contributors to the neurological disease burden.
India accounts for nearly 10 per cent of the global stroke burden, with more than 1.25 million new stroke cases reported in 2021, according to the organisation.
Atharv Ability said the increasing prevalence of risk factors such as hypertension and diabetes, along with rising life expectancy, delayed treatment-seeking and uneven access to specialised rehabilitation services, have increased the need for structured neuro-rehabilitation.
The initiative has been conceptualised and operationalised by Sumita Mohapatro Pani, Senior Vice President, Lupin.
The Hyderabad centre is headed by Dr Vijay Battina (PT), Centre Head and Clinical Director, Atharv Ability Hyderabad.
The centre is part of Lupin’s ‘Beyond the Pill’ approach, which seeks to extend healthcare support beyond medicines to areas including rehabilitation, patient education and long-term support.
