Kakinada SP flags off organ donation awareness rally
Kakinada, Aug 13 (TNTI): District Superintendent of Police Garikipati Bindu Madhav on Thursday flagged off an organ donation awareness rally organised by Medicover Hospitals here to mark World Organ Donation Day.
Addressing the rally, Bindu Madhav said the motto of organ donation was to give life to others even after death.
He said the police would extend necessary support by arranging a green channel whenever donated organs were transported to other areas for transplantation.
The SP appreciated Medicover Hospitals for organising the awareness rally and spreading awareness on the importance of organ donation.
District Medical and Health Officer Dr T Anitha said August 13 was observed as World Organ Donation Day every year to create awareness about organ donation and encourage people to register themselves as organ donors.
She said organs donated by accident victims and brain-dead persons could help provide a new lease of life to patients requiring transplants.
Organs including the heart, liver, kidneys, lungs, corneas, skin and bones can be donated for transplantation, she said.
