Kakinada: Rythu coolie sangham dharna demanding land pattas
Kakinada , Aug 17 (TNT): The landless poor belonging to Dalits, Girijans, BCs and other sections owing allegiance to Andhra Pradesh Rythu coolie sangham have staged dharna in front of the Collectorate here on Monday demanding granting of pattas to the lands under their cultivation for the past three decades in Mallisala, Gopalapuram hill areas.
Rythu coolie sangham state general secretary Karnakula Veeranjaneyulu ,district general secretary B Ramesh and district president Valluru Rajababu who led the Dharna , told media persons the landless poor people of Mallisala and Gopalapuram villages have leveled the ground and cultivating them planting mango and cashew nut plants three decades ago.
They faced stiff opposition from the landlords who went to court with the support of the officials but lost the case. Jaggampeta MLA Jyothula Nehru while in opposition promised the poor people to grant pattas to the lands cultivated by them for the past thirty years but went back after coming to power.
Both the leaders have appealed for justice to the landless poor who are cultivating the lands for the past thirty years . Later they called on the Collector Haridendra Prasad in a delegation and presented a memorandum seeking his intervention and grant of land pattas to the poor .
They said they would oppose tooth and nail the ruling party leaders move to allot these lands to the Industrial park.
