Junior doctors in Kakinada boycott duties seeking stipend hike
Kakinada ,AugĀ 17 (TNT):: junior doctors boycotted duties in the Government General Hospital here on MondayĀ and took out a cycle rally from the Rangaraya medical college postgraduate hostel raising slogans in support of their Ā demand for stipend hike.
The cycle rally after passing through Kondayyapalem bridge, Military road Ā formed a human chain at Bhanugudi junction .
They staged a novel protest Ā dancing and singing.
Andhra Pradesh Junior doctors association vice president K Ramesh while addressing the protesters said that the government enhanced the stipend to them during the years 2022 and 2024 .Since the cost of living has gone up enormously the junior doctors were facing difficulties as such forced to demand enhancement of stipend by 15 percent .
Rangaraya medical college junior doctors association general secretary Dr Tanuja has demanded the government to provide basic amenities to the Junior doctors in government General hospital.`
Women Junior doctors were workingĀ round the clock. We are not against anyone but only demanding solving of the stipend problem .We have boycotted the duties to press for our demandā she added.
Rangaraya Medical college Junior doctors president Aswini kumar, joint secretary R. Das said the Junior doctors in neighbouring Telangana state and in other states were getting higher stipend than in our state. Over 900 junior doctors have boycotted their duties.
